I was all set to buy a bike when another deal presented itself. The original bike I was going to buy was an 8 year old colombus slx frame (basso) And the new one that has come up is a 2 year old marin vicenza made of zonal tubing. Both bikes fit. The Marin comes with a carbon fork and veloce triple the basso as I mentioned in prevoius post is a ultegra double (9 speed sti)
Both are in excellent condition.
Marin- 675.00
Basso- 800.00
Wich of these bikes in your opinions is the better bike for a beginner. And would 2 year old aluminum be better than 8-9 year old steel. Thanks in advance for all the help

Both sound like good deals! Are you in an area where the triple is a significant advantage? If so stick with the Marin! I've always liked steel road bikes, but that's just me! Then again the carbon fork helps smooth out the ride! I can definately see you dilemma.
Heck make a ridiculous offer on one, if they say no make another ridiculous offer on the other! You are in a great position!
If it were me, I'd pick the Marin. Why? Well, you're a beginner and not really sure what exactly you like. The Marin is cheaper and will give you some extra money to buy a couple pairs of shorts and a nice helmet, gloves, seat wedge and a couple misc. tools. Plus, the Marin is a nice bike with decent components.
Post a pic of your decision when you get it!
