BMX - how do i get other riders to take me more serious

im a girl and im pretty new to bmx and to my area, so im looking for people to ride with but none of the guys around here take me seriously. any ideas on how i can get them to

Show them up. I know it works on roadie group rides when an attack goes up the road...and it's a sheila!

girl, first of all, RESPECT to you. (no sarcasm) wish more chicks got into BMX. yeah, as NZL says, show 'em up. like, if a punk can't bust a grind, bust one in front of him. if he can, do it better. keep us all posted on your situation, yeah?

you just have to show them that you're willing to progress, it takes effort, and as long as you put that in, they'll see it and respect you for it

Definately, go you for riding and just keep riding.. they'll take you seriously with time. And think, they may not take guys seriously when they first start out.. it may not be just because you are a girl. So, just keep riding.. it'll all work out.

I wish you luck. Most guys are immature buttwipes who simply don't have a clue how to take women seriously. Really, it isn't a question of you being a girl rider - it has a lot more with you simply being a girl.

That said, girls have done little to fix this problem. The majority of girls that are into bmx are into it FOR THE GUYS - not the riding. It's pretty easy to find a guy when there are 10,000 guys for every girl out there.

But, really, to be taken seriously, you gotta ride. Not sit on your behind looking pretty, but actually practicing. Go to the local park, or ride with the same people day in and day out. Make some friends, and try to find out if any road trips or jams or day trips are coming up and go to them. Ask and show an interest in the sport. If guys are showing a video of riding and you want to see it, then go see it.

Check www.wofbmx.com for some girls out there and as far as I'm concerned Nena is one of the best female riders I have ever seen on a bike. An icepick on a 12 foot wall is just freakin' insane.

Nobody is worried, it's just that quite often the threads aren't even ready by the person that originally posted in any more.
