I'm watching this TV show called "Dead like me" on Netflix (love it, BTW), and there's an episode where the main character gets this old beach cruiser to ride around. In the next one (entitled "Vacation"), she's pedaling along, and you can hear it going "tick tick tick." I looked for a shifter, and seeing none, thought to myself - holy cow, a kickback!

I was watching a movie recently set in 1960's Paris. I paused it whenever an interesting bike popped into frame.

So yeah. You're not the only one.

I guess my point was that 5 years ago, I never would have noticed the ticking, and 2 years ago, I just would have assumed that it was a standard coaster - clicking or not.

I'm totally with you. Bike audio has been a thing for me for years since I donated a Trek 630 to a good friend who does Foley work for feature films. I didn't see any road bikes in Alice in Wonderland but I'll look again. It's very rare that they get it just right.
