hey,
so i bought a new trek madone 4.7 about two months ago, and i've had some problems with the ultegra. whenever i start pedalling faster or putting more pressure on the pedals it starts making this weird grinding noise really loudly. does anyone know what that is or how i can fix it?

If you bought the bike from a dealer he should do the first tune up at no cost to you.
Is the noise caused by the chain rubbing the front derailleur?

they offer a 200 mile tune up and i already had that, and the front derailleur is fine

Is it possible that a brake pad is dragging on a rim?
Are the wheel axles fully seated in the dropouts? (Open and close the skewers with the bike upright and the wheels on the ground.)

You could need a rear derailleur cable tension adjustment if the noise is the chain rubbing against an adjacent cog. +1 on taking it back to the dealer for a quick look.

Is it on the biggest rear cogs? I've noticed this on mine...there's like a RD chatter in the low gears...

That sounds like the "B-screw" is set too far out and the rear derailleur's upper pulley is rubbing on the cog teeth.
