Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

This is one part of bike maintenance that can take up hours of my time. I'll be sitting there, jostling the aero brakes to make sure that they're the same height/position and trying different angles of the handlebar before I'll be satisfied. I even take several looks to make sure that the handlebar is aligned as straight as possible with the wheel (even though I've realized that it's surprisingly natural to correct for even offsets of 15 degrees or more!).

On another note, does anyone have tips on doing this more precisely?

Besides having to much time on your hands what else do you do for fun?

It's just regular OCD. If it wasn't the handlebars it would be something else.

Hang the bike on a hook by its front wheel. It's easier to see level than it is to see 90° to something.

I find it easier to adjust handlebar wheel alignment while riding. That would be very dangerous tho'.;) I always compare front hub with top of the bars while on the bike. Any other way and it ends up crooked.

Nope. Not handlebars. But I am super anal about seat adjustments. BIG TIME on seat adjustments.
