No problem. Get yourself a good hydration system, along the lines of a Camel Bak. Back pack/bladder set up.

Welcome.

Malvern Star? How did you get one here? Completely iconic Australian brand, though I didn't know it still existed. Bike is named for http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hubert_Opperman

For kids in the sixties and seventies it wasn't so much which bike to get, it was which Malvern Star to get. (my dad wouldn't let me have a bicycle </sigh>)

Can't really help you out on kit, I'm a city cyclist, and my longest journey is a 20km one way commute, so I just wear work clothes for shorter distances or running tights for full commute. If you are planning on journeys of more than an hour, then definitely hydration. I'd get a bottle, it's not so hot in the UK that you really need something like a camel back - but if that suits you, go for it.

Saddle bag with spare tube, mobile phone, multitools + levers and patch kit. Oh, and a pump. Just bought one of these http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Lezyne-Micro-Floor-Drive-HPG-Hand-pump_26275.htm as my only pump. It gets my tyres up to 120 psi, which is all I need on my folding bike, and enough to get you going comfortably on a road bike. It could go higher, but my tyres won't.

Visit the clydesdale forum here. You are well in their weight range (so am I, but it's only 68kg for women). They'll have lots of advice for you.
