Lived off the Bradley Ave exit on the SI Expressway for the first 1 1/2 years after I got married, then moved back to Queens. What part of SI are you in?

Hey!
Nice to meet you!
I commute in Northern Jersey.
I was a messenger with Breakaway Couriers in Manhattan Winter/Spring of 2000.
I lived in Brooklyn for 3 years before heading home to Montclair.
I think Manhattan is one of the most exciting places to roll around.
Would you care to share the highlights of your commute route?
Messengers unite! I rolled with Thunderball in Manhattan a few years back.
How does one go about commuting from NJ into Manhattan? Use the GWBridge? or partly thru mass transit?
I recently started making the Manhattan commute to work from Brooklyn, and the new bike path on the Manhattan Bridge is the pits. The divots in the concrete every 10 feet or so make it an uncomfortable ride on a road bike at all speeds. The West Side Path makes up for that though, best way to get up or down if you're on that side of the island...smooth ride, few stoplights, no congestion.

You could do the GWB, or NJ transit.
I actually commuted from Brooklyn to Rahway, NJ on ye olde Nj transit for a while.
I would ride over the Billy B into Manhattan and then meander over to Penn Station.
You do have to watch out for jerky porters.
If I had a nickel for every porter who told me, "Just wait until the people laod on".
And then they ignore you.
"My car is full", even worse.
They try to have 1 bike per car.
Some porters are cool.
And others . . .
I actually had a porter tell me "I don't let you bikers on my train."
I found that out the hard way too. "Not during Peak hours"
...Not that I would wanna be packed in like a sardine anyway.
I used to commute from Linden into Manhattan and did it suck!
I envy not the NJT riders.
