I am trying to install a new SRAM chain. The instructions say the arrow on the powerlock has to point in the direction of chain travel. My problem is that the each connector piece has an arrow and they point in opposite directions.

Doesn't make much sense does it. No matter how you install it , it looks exactly the
same. Don't sweat it, put it on, make sure it is locked and ride (lube chain first).

I would assume that it means the direction of the arrow from the view of the mechanic installing the chain (i.e. the outboard of the chain, so that when the powerlock at it's lowest point the outside arrow points towards the derailleur and the inside arrow points toward the crankset.

Well, actually...

If you picture rotating it around an axis running left to right through the side plates, that mirrors it.

Hard to imagine what difference it makes, though

Is this directional arrow a new feature? I've been using the 10-speed Powerlock for over 2 years and never noticed an arrow! I've even read the instructions (gasp) and don't recall a directional arrow.

You read the instructions "before all else failed"? OH NO--the world as we know it will end!:roflmao2:
