Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - Fuji Club

First off, I'm a rookie at this whole bike thing, just so you know. I just bought a Fuji Club bike that has been customized for $350. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if I got a good deal or not. I suppose there's no real reason to know seeing as I already bought it but I figure I should know either way.

Its a fixed gear with diatech brake, sugino GLP crank, velo tempo SRW saddle, alex rims and a 1980's fuji club frame.

I'de just like to know if I should replace any of these components if they're sub-par.

Hi, most of the visitors to this forum are interested in finding older bikes like yours and restoring or preserving them in their original or "as found" but in proper mechanical condition. You paid a price typical for the type of bike you purchased which is good news. The parts on your bike are typical for this type of conversion. Your bike was originally positioned one or two models from "top of the line" of Fuji offerings. If Fuji offered a bike currently with your parts spec it would one or two from the bottom but inexpensive parts are still pretty darn good these days.

Here is a cool website that can tell you quite a bit about your bike. It was a pretty sweet machine in it's day and most of the original parts could be found in the bins at local bike shops with a little effort. enjoy!

+1 For $350, you should get an Opus III or a pristine Team.

That was a high price for a Fuji club, but on the other hand, the ONLY bike I ever regret selling was a 1993 Fuji club. I would probably pay a premium to get it back.

I guess its worth noting that I bought the bike in NYC. It seems to me that all bikes are priced around 25% higher here due to demand. Basically, if you have a working bike here, you try to sell it for at least $250. I had taken a look at a few other bikes that were offered around the $300 dollar range and they were in much worse condition and weren't of the same quality.

I've taken the bike out every day since I've had it and am happy with the way it performs. I'm sure that I was probably over charged a bit but in this market, I feel I got a fair deal.

I appreciate all the comments. What no one has said is whether or not I should upgrade any of the components. If you have any thoughts on that, I'd appreciate the advice.
