I am a newbie, so please bear with me. I 've been out of the BMX loop too many years. I just got my old 86 GT Pro Performer back from my brother and am trying to upgrade it. I never had a cable detangler on it and would like to put one on. I think I jumped the gun and ordered a Gyro G3 detangler, but some one stated that it might not fit because I should have an inside headset. Question number 1, what is an inside headset? Question number 2, are there different headsets out there now that Im not aware of? Question number 3, did I order the wrong detangler for my specific bike? And last question, If I did buy the wrong detangler for my bike, what would be the right one?

Thank you for the help. Please forgive me if I sound like I dont know what Im talking about, but it has been a long time since I've been around the BMX world.

Thanks again,

Chris714

Finding a detangler to fit a bike with a one inch threaded headset might be a problem. In the 90s, BMX went to threadless headsets that are larger than what your bike uses.

You need to find something labeled for 1" headset. I just cheacked the places I know that cater to old school parts, and none of them currently have 1" detangler in stock.

Hey Greyryder,

Thanks for the history lesson. I didn't know that much had changed, but it would make sense. It has been about 25 years since I last rode my bike. I guess I'll look around for anyone selling the first version of the Odyssey Gyro.

Thanks,
