Hi! I've been cycling for a grand total of two weeks now, and loving every minute of it. I used to be a competitive swimmer for 9 years, but have decided to take a break from it at least until college. I wanted to give up the awful air conditions and dry skin related with swimming but didn't want to be a couch potato, so I bought a Specialized Sirrus Sport off craigslist for $300. I've been riding mainly on the W & OD trail (I live in northern VA) and have put a solid 100 miles on my bike from it. I'm definitely lacking the leg strength needed to keep up with most guys, but my cardio endurance is still there from the 9 hours of swimming a week. Once I have a few hundred more miles under my belt and get more experience, both physically and mentally, Id love to do charity races and what not to get the most of this awesome sport!
Thanks! I know I'll learn a lot from this site!
