Bicycle Mechanics - New Build, New Group, Strange Noise

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
My first build with the help of my cool LBS. New 6700 Group. Upon the first test ride, there's a peculiar sound [like a creak] occuring when pedaling/cranking. We checked the bb. We tightened the cranks, chain rings etc. It's a very different sound. It also occurs while coasting and pedaling backward. It does not occur while coasting and NOT pedaling. Could it be the BB? My LBS guru tried adjusting and tightening just about everyhing. I tried to "work it out" for a few laps around the neighborhood. The only time it goes away is when I get out of the saddle and crank hard. When I sit back down it returns. Anyone with any advice?
Thanks, Mike

Check your seat post, and seat clamp. If it goes away when you are out of the saddle, these may be the source.
Thank you! Will try today.
Also check the saddle itself. Often they creak where the top meets the rails.
If it isn't the saddle or post, it might be the rear hub shifting slightly in the right dropout under higher chain tension. Reset the rear wheel position by letting it settle home with the bike vertical on level ground. This ensures that the axle will be at the top front in the dropouts, then close the QR tight. BTW- if it's the hub, it'll creak sitting or standing.
