I haven't priced them, but looking at prices online that seems typical rather than outstanding.

$1615 vs. $1617, $1652, $1620, etc. Obviously the components and details matter, but assuming they're comparable, at that price difference you'd be better off checking reputation and support and such rather than going for the very cheapest.

What's with the big price drops from MSRP? Are we expecting big changes to the Big Dummy for the new model this year?

I think it's just due to the poor economy the last couple years.

I have seen rumors that the 2011 BD is going to have downgraded components and be considerably cheaper than the current MSRP. No idea if cheaper than the current sale price.

The redesigned freeloader bags may also be a reason to blow out the old stock.

But isn't selling stuff way cheaper than the MSRP pretty much standard operating procedure anyways?

No Surly[QBP] stopped providing bikes/frames to quite a few online dealers that were under cutting the MSRP and hurting brick and mortar Surly dealers. However, last year Surly dropped the price of the BD because the economy sucked and they were not getting rid of stock. So I think these prices are sanctioned by Surly if multiple dealers are offering them.

A lower spec BD would be cool...I didn't see the point of Mr.Wirly cranks on a cargo bike for most people.

Vik, Nice find! Mine cost the same after upgrades so this is a very good price for a complete BD. And the shipping charge is reasonable too!

At $2500, it was too much for most people. They had to drop it considerably to sell it. All in all for the price now listed, its a lot of bike for the money!

I have had it for about 2 months now. I do love it. I dont drive so it gets used for groceries, laundry runs and fights with my LHT for commuting. I have been having a problem, though. I get numbness in my fingertips. I dont get that with the LHT.

I put Ergon Grips on all my bikes that don't have drop bars...gives you a wide platform for your hand so there is no acute pressure in any one spot. Worth a try....

The other option that comes to mind [without being able to talk to you and see you ride] is to raise the bars to take more pressure off your hands.

I put some ergon style grips (from MEC) on it, also added a civia loring handlebar. I am more upright, but still get some numbness. Would it be worthwhile to post a pic or vid of me on the bike?

Can't hurt. Maybe a close up of the grips and how your hands/wrist/arms are oriented when riding.

Do you have some bars [other than drops on your LHT] that you've used recently on another bike that don't cause a problem? If so maybe try and replicate the other bike's riding position as much as possible.
