Lately, on an average day, I get a fake/spam Facebook friend request every few minutes or so. It adds up to about 50 a day. Other days I get none. This has been going on since early last week.

They are always very skankily dressed young women with adds for the iPhone 4 on their wall.

Of course I don't accept them, but how can I stop getting them in the first place?

My privacy settings are already very tight, so I don't know how they got to me in the first place.

P.S. On an unrelated but similar note, someone very famous with the same first name but slightly different last name to me had someone mistype their email address somewhere along the line, so I have been getting all of this famous person's email!!! This has been going on for a few months, but this past month it's been constant, daily!

I get them as well, but they just want to "befriend" me. And last week I what looks like a normal post on my wall from a high school friend - and don't I freaking click on the link - nothing happened. Ha - that's indication number ONE. So this weekend "I" sent to many - not all my FB friends a post on their wall exclaiming "I lost 9 lbs in 14 days, here a link for more info".

And to further the stupidity - an acquaintance in another forum goes and POSTS a thread Shouting TUDE your FB account has been hacked. Sheesh. The woman has my phone number, has my email addy, can PM me - instead it's a thread. Called her an idiot.

Oh and I too have all the privacy settings tight - and with quite a long and busy password. :(

Haha, and this famous person is a musician/producer, which makes it all the more entertaining (not).

You may want to change your settings where you don't take friend requests for a week or two.

That is what you get for being popular.

37 more fake requests yesterday. :(

I may have to restrict new friend requests, as suggested.

It turns out several people that I know are also getting them. And my dad is accepting all of them. But he's a genuine perv, whereas I just pretend to be one in online forums, so that's really too bad on his part.

I got one last week ---- and it was from an "Eva" ---- but the kicker here is - that there for 4 mutual friends --- 4 guys I went to HS with! But I never went to school with an Eva - or even her "last name".

So I wrote on one of my friends wall - who is this eva?

And my friend wrote back "LOL - I don't know - I just befriended her cause the other guys we know did - and that he didn't want to be a doofus".

So I told him - did he notice that her pic - was generated by a program where you insert your face onto the body of choice. And that I don't feel comfortable about this one so I'm deleting the friend request.

Doesn't she respond to me!! She said something like she thought I looked fun and that she was a fun girl too and how dissappointed she was in me. wth!!

Nothing for me. I'm not popular enough to get spammed... thank god.

But if you look on their wall before you accept their bogus resquest, you can see that they all recently changed their Facebook to English, they just changed their profile photo, and they have ads for the iPhone 4... all screams bogus to me without having to think twice about being a doofus. :)

I like the one I recently got from someone supposedly born in 1984, and who graduated from my graduate institute in 1982 (before the existence of the graduate program). :)

Did you reply with funny emails? Please post. Thanks.

P.S. SonataInGFlat is better.
