Foo - Need help with bicycle shock replacement

Can anyone here help? I need to replace the cheapo rubber nolleen shocks that those of you in the know....know melt away when they got hot. :twitchy: I've seen these rubber carappy shocks replaced with springs as the shock is the oil damping system (ODS) by Girven so the spring replacement works out perfectly and actually better than the orig rubber crappy shock. So waht I need to know is what size lenth and diameter spring do I need to replace both front and back? Its the same bike pictured below but its green.

I was looking at restoring a proflex a few years back and these guys carried some of the elastomer shocks. http://www.rapiddescentscotland.co.uk/

Other than maybe ask in the mechanics forum, I am out of ideas.

I found a Flea Bay post by these guys in which they mention the shock they are selling is the last of their stock. Heres the main page, thanks for trying dude. =0)

No eye to eye, this bike has an unusual shock that bolts on from underneath, but the elastomer is three inches long if that helps. =0)

Look up Risse Racing, I think they can provide the adapter. I'm not sure what kind of increased performance you're looking for, but if you're going to upgrade, might as well go for a damper with adjustments for the following:

1. spring-preload
2. low-velocity compression damping
3. high-velocity compression damping
4. knee-point for compression
5. low-velocity rebound damping
6. high-velocity rebound damping
7. knee-point for rebound

Thank you Danno, but I went with this instead, works really well and keeps the look of the orig shock 'cept for those pesky melting elastomers! LOL! I just measured the elastomer cups and the lenth of the space left by the elastomers and found a coil spring to fit it. Its the ODS system so it should be fine and dandy! ;0)

:DHeh, heh... I love tinkering with all things mechanical. When I was 4, my mum was quite dismayed that I had disassembled her grandfather clock (well, up to as far as I could reach). However, I ended up putting it all back together and it's still working today. :)

why would your mom care what you did to your great grandfather's clock? Seems like the old guy might have something to say about it though!
