The new xtc 2 Le. If i order in the next week i will get a 12.5% discount which will bring the price down from $2000 to $1750 (aus dollars) It seems like a good price for what it is, it is only a 3 year frame warranty but im sure that will be adequate. So yay!

Hmm, my lbs told me

1) Giant makes the most alum. frames in the world.
2) Giant's warranty is good.
3) All aluminum frames ALL have 5 or less years warranty.

I would think that bike is alum....

I have a 2003 XtC3, and word of warning, don't use it for anything more than light XC.

True, they do make a LOT of frames
Not as good as Specialized

Hmm i might have to check up on the warranty again because the guy at my lbs specifically told me it had a 3 year warranty... Hmm

I had looked at specialized since i really like them, but a stumpjumper would have set me back about $2500 or $2800 with disc brakes from memory. and if i was spending that much i would just spend the extra and buy an epic... Unfortunately i cant afford that :(

Maybe in the US, but in the UK it was available, maybe i bought it early 2004, i honestly can't remember, but its listed as 2003 on the Giant website ;)

My friend got a stc se3 frame back in 2002. Yes, 2002, that was in Taiwan, where Giant is based. It was only 1.5 kg, and very good for the price. However it was never meant to do anything hardcore, which reflects on the price. I love the light weight though. We were playing around with it in the shop by lifting with our fingers.

Oh, also, I just bought a GT avalanche at that time and we compared the ride. GT is of course better than the XTC. There is just something about the Giant that feels a nitch looser, and both me and my friend could feel it. I am not trying to put down Giant or Taiwan products. I myself being a Taiwanese and certainly proud of Giant and that the GT was being assembled in Taiwan too (a company called Merida that makes magnesium alloy frames), I just find the GT more solid in terms of how the parts were put together.
