looking to replace the classic track drop bars that are on my bike with something sexier. any recos. i'm a fan of the deep drop for the aesthetics but also wanted to learn why they drop so deeply.

Hmm. While I am not sure I personally would find them physically comfortable, in terms of looks, I think those sensuously-curved true track bars ARE about the sexiest drop bars out there. I'm talking about the kind that don't really have obvious "tops" but seem to start curving right from the stem.

i have some 3ttt's on my pista and some modolo's on my iro. the 3ttt's have a 180mm drop and the modolo's have a 175mm drop. the modolo's have a very short reach; if you like riding on the top of your drops where brake hoods would be you may feel you don't have enough bar to grasp. i ride with my hands there frequently, but don't mind it one bit. of the two, i prefer my 3ttt bars. i love both bars though.

a deep drop allows for a more aero position on the bike. i prefer a deep drop because the larger radius fits my long go-go gadget hands better.

Deda Elementi 4130 chromoly Pista bars. 33mm thick by the stem, then tapers to normal thickness by the curves. Looks great without tape. You obviously need the Deda stem to accomodate the bars.

those bars are rather sexy. they also come in aluminum. their drop is 173mm. the clamp diameter is actually 31.7. imagine me saying this while pushing my taped bridge glasses up my nose.

www.businesscycles.com has all of the geeky info and also sells all of the mentioned bars.

My vote goes to the Nitto 123s steel. A classic and heavy as hell!

Dedas look very hot too

i really like the nitto b127 bars i have. they have anatomically shaped drops so your wrists are in a really good position, and they still look hot. businesscycles sells them as well.

businesscycles has pictures of all of the bars. my iro with the modolo bars is #738 on fgg, but i STILL don't have a picture of my 80's bianchi pista yet... when i do, the drool will commence.
