Yeah, I got up to 283...glad I stuck with it. It goes much deeper than the usual Shonen Jump offerings....(I hear you AEO, been doing this for 25 years).

The Hollowfication Gang is incredible! Great characterization. There hasn't been this kind of moral ambiguity since the first Gundam wars. It about more than attaining powers and fighting, because you don't always know who to root for.

I am just glad the series focuses on the Soul Society now...the early high school romance drama could not hold my attention.


Plus the new artwork and character design is some of the best I've seen in any serial manga/anime.

I don't think the arrrancar are the filler he's talking about. The zanpakuto unknown/beast sword arcs were the latest filler and I didn't particularly like those, eh.

Spoiler:oh yes Aizen is a crazy bastard. Poor Hallibel. :( But Aizen is sooooo damn hot and sexy. WHYYYYYY.
More spoiler for those not caught up with the manga:there's still some arrancar in Hueco Mundo. The rest of the gang who got stuck in there are battling those ones. But of course, aside from the ones we don't know the fate of (please let Grimmjaw be alive pleeeeeeease...) they're all gonna die at the hands of our shinigami heroes. AND ZOMG GIN ZOMG. That is all.

I guess the zanpakuto stories are filler like the "Super Sayian" Shonen Jump regular claptrap. Good spoilers! I like the Arrancar. Complex character motivation there.


I am just happy that the Buffy Vampire Slayer inspired high school stuff has long past and now it's all about the betrayal of Aizen and the Soul Society. Kurosaki Ichigo was not my favourite character anyway...

Oh yeah, the arrancar are definitely interesting. Actually, most of the characters are very three dimensional; no one's just all good or all evil. I find something I can relate to in each character.
