That's right folks, it is that time of year again for a twilight and a hill climb. This weekend, Saturday August 21 and Sunday August 22, ABD Cycling will be throwing yet another awesome weekend of racing. Saturday night is the Twilight and Sunday is the climb up Summit. Racing for all and a parade for the kids!

In!
I love these races. Suck at them, but love them. Saturday is one of the most odd/hard/fun/different crits you can do. The folks who live in the neighbourhood really make this an "event".

(something*) on birthday (of) my wife is forbidden.
*racing? is fahren play, or is it spiele, or is it something else? I can't believe how much German I've forgotten.

thanks for finding that vid. I may be a transplate up in the chicago area come 2011 and I asked Rob about the course. I am doing the Indy Crit on saturday and trying to figure out if I can also do this crit as well. Two Crits and the Palos Hills MTB race on Sunday....may be a tall order.

What category? You should come to winfield...forget Indy. Come for two days. Please.

I obviously used Google Translate but figured Scummer would come in and correct it if it was wrong.

Google translate got it right. Impressive... I wonder if it would have done as well in Finnish.

My experience has been that online translation things work pretty well for one word at a time, are ok for 2 or 3 words, and break down entirely in situations where grammar applies.

not even my girlfriend has shown that much enthusiasm about coming up to see her this weekend. I'm currently a 5 road and 2MTB. I can cat up to 4 anytime right now. I just want a couple more races in me before I do. The core of my team is doing the indy crit and since it is a 4/5 crit then we can have about 8 bodies in the field in this one. I've been a MTB only racer for years and just started finally road racing this year.

Is there day of registration because I have already registered for the indy crit and I was going to try and make the Saturday race too. It's going to be tight to even make it so I didn't preregister. What about the Sunday race?
Can I have an address? Since I'm not even close to being from there, I never saw a physical address.

You can register on-site. One thing we have noticed is hardly anyone ever pre-registers for the races and they show up the day of. I think for the Master's weekend we had like 10 to 20 people pre-reg and they were either racing 55+, 60+, or older.
Looks like there will be some awesome neighborhood parties going on as well, and KOM primes of brand new weber grills.

If work let's me out early enough I'll be joining for some Saturday cat4 fun since I'm already in that neighborhood anyway.

I will be the one doing the scoring tonight, so I will be at the start finish. Psimet can tell you, I am kind of hard to miss. I look like I belong on the Chicago Bears and not a tiny bicycle :p Stop by and say hi if I don't say hi first.

Here I sit at work, imagining crossing the line first after a blistering attack with 1k to go... :notamused:
Saturday races were brutal... even for being short.
I don't get why more folks didn't come out today. It was a safe course, with big money. I'll never figure out why guys still learning to do this (5's/4's/3's) will sign up for races where many of them won't finish (ie. Glencoe, Superweek, etc) but then skip races where they have a better shot at both perfecting their craft and possibly even winning some money.

Agreed,
Nice course. No safety issues, apart from pride being dented.
$800/10 deep for Cat 3s is an excellent purse. Beats me why more didn't turn up.
Looks like MJH2 more than made his entry fee back. Despite impediment of snotgreen BMC.

The course looked awesome. I got there to see the masters/women, kids race and the P1/2 go.
The Winfield races are quite a spectacle with many residents having parties outside.

I know you'd prefer British racing green.
The 5th place covered more than the entry fee. It covered entry for both days, late fees for both days, and another $20 on top of that. It's more than I deserve, no doubt.
And, with the amount of stuff that they gave away Saturday... seriously. I absolutely hate that little hill, but would never miss that race. That neighbourhood supports this race better than any other race I've seen.

Awesome isn't quite the word. Hard is the word.
It doesn't look hard when you roll up it a couple of times, but it's just about long enough to burn out the "lightly" conditioned riders with a descent twisty enough to make it hard to chase back on. I got popped for the 3rd year in my 3rd category.
