Taylor Phinney got first in the prologue--good stuff! It's a pretty entertaining lineup this year--Big George, Levi, Phinney, Ben Jacques-Maynes, Mancebo and all the local troublemakers. It'll be a fun week.

George is out, but it sounds like Levi took the overall lead today.
Stupid question, but I haven't been paying attention: Why no Radioshack kit for Leipheimer?

Has to do with level of the race. I remember a little about it last year the Pro Tour teams are not allowed to race in continental races, or something like that. But then up to 3 from a team can race but not in their kits. I don't really know though because at the Tour of Elk Grove Chris Horner was in RS kit.

Thanks. For some reason -- please don't hit me -- I had it in my head that the Tour of Utah was a PT race. Silly me.

Seems like it has been a great race so far. Hopefully will get more coverage next year.

Not sure what the exact rule is. I know that Levi's jersey had a huge RadioShack logo on it. But it was not the Regular RadioShack jersey. I think that 1 or 2 Pro tour riders may race with regular kit. Maximum of 3 can race but not in regular uniforms. I think that Levi could take this tour easily if he wanted to but he seems to be downplaying his GC goals. Perhaps he is just being sporting since there is really no GC contender in his climbing league. And this tour does favor a strong all rounder with very strong climbing skills. Levi looked pretty tired at the top of Nebo. I wonder if he will attack on the Snowbird climb. I don't think that he will even need to.

Yeah you can enter without a team, but I dont know what the rules are for jerseys. Its weird, because its not like everyone in the world doesnt know that Levi is on TRS. Further, I wonder if it's really 1 vs 131 or if he looks like he needs protection a bit, if the u23 Trek squad will help him out.

Picture of him at finish line plus his statement. Can't remember where I saw this picture.
This is one of them:

He looks like he's too tired to be excited about winning.

You know who looks impressive and could be a great one to watch in the future is Ian Boswell (Bissell). Only 19 and is doing some pretty cool stuff. Maybe a Boswell versus Phinney rivalry when they get older.

Headwind - Throw in Teejay Vangarderen as a GC candidate and you could put together a hell of a good futures team. Ben King and some others.
I noticed that Taylor Phinney's jersey says Radio Shack on it too. Here is a picture of both of them, Phinney and Leipheimer, after yesterday's TT, where Phinney took first and Levi took second. Young Taylor Phinney has two stage wins now, the Prologue and the TT.
Those Trek-Livestrong guys could potentially be an ally for Leipheimer, but I don't think any of them are expected to make the final, GC climber contender group tomorrow. Stage 5 is a real ballbuster with 11,000 feet of climbing in 100 miles and a mountain finish at Snowbird Ski resort.
There are quite a few photos of all the stages at Cycling News. (http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/6th-tour-of-utah-ne/stage-2/photos)

A few photos from the crit today, at the top of Main Street in Park City.
Alex Dowsett went out early, but would be reeled in and then go otb.

Levi was always at or near the front of the pack.

Local-boy-now-riding-for-BMC Jeff Louder took a flyer off the front of the group.

Jeff ended up winning the stage, not sure by how much. At one point he had a one minute lead over the pack.
The field splinterd pretty badly very early and a lot of the stragglers were pulled. Seems like it would have been a miserable/terrifying crit course to ride, but it was a lot of fun to watch.
Nice pictures. Glad Louder won. The crit looked like a good one to watch. I am heading up Little Cottonwood with some folks tomorrow to watch the final climb to Snowbird.
Well Leiphemer had quite a week, winning Leadville and Tour of Utah. In addition, it looked to me like he could have won the Queen Stage today as well from watching the videos of the finish. It looked like Levi was really flying compared to Crawford when he caught Crawford, but then may have elected to just ride it on in with him.

I was watching about four miles down from the top.
