Utility Cycling - Dutch ID Double Dutch

I tried to search function, but I didn't come up with anything. I'm sorry if this has been posted before, and I'm sure it has. I was doing some random Googling for Utility bike pictures, and I stumbled on this:

This seems like such an awesome design. It looks like it would work for someone who doesn't want the length of an Xtra cycle, but needs to be able to haul a little more weight.

The question I have is, is there anything else like this, or are they the only maker of a frame like this?

Typical dutch style bike designs. The website pricing is 2 years old. No North American dealers listed. The DD model is $850usd plus shipping.

I believe Kronan makes a similar bike for the Swedish military. WorkCycles NL makes the FR8 (http://www.workcycles.com/home-products/professional-transport-bikes/workcycles-fr8-as-industrial-bike) which is similar and available in the US.

If you want cargo bikes, check out the Torker Cargo-T (http://www.torkerusa.com/bikes/utility/2010-cargot) about $600usd out the door and can be ordered from just about any bike shop in the USA that has an account with SBS (Seattle Bike Supply)

Thanks guys, that is more what I was looking for.

This is basically just window shopping for me right now. The new wife won't sign off on a bike purchase for a while, and probably only if if involves getting rid of my current town bike. I like window shopping though.

Both options you guys posted are nice, but I'm swayed more towards the frame mounted rack after riding my friends bike with fork mounted rack.

Frame mounted racks are pretty cool, like on the classic German postal bikes (a google should turn these up pretty readily, Biria is one of the makers). You can roll your own from a Diamond frame with an adapter like this one: http://www.hembrow.eu/frontrack.html

As the website points out though, since the rack/basket is stationary, you have to make sure the handlebars are high enough to clear what ever is on the rack or in the basket.
