Commuting - Bamboo Bikes

Anybody else sorta curious how durable the Dylan bamboo bike is?

I keep thinking about buying one of the SS ones just to see if the frame is durable.

Bamboo is recyclable.... the downside to owning one is the price!

Then again, so is steel. Alumium too, in fact. I really have to ask, does it offer any actual benefits over any of the conventional frame materials? It seems like for most applications it's a bit of a novelty.

Yeah, I wonder what's so cool about them too. (If anything). When I talk about a bamboo bike people always give me the "really? They make those?" reply. The problem with these bikes, as with things like Yuba Mundos, Dahon full size folding bikes, and other less common bikes is that there's no place to try them out. How do you know that it's worth the money? Even if you buy with the intention to return, shipping can be expensive!

What if it had seeds in it, and the bamboo took over? Seriously, bamboo is the scourge of the northwest ... after black berries. I think the reason they make bamboo bikes is ... something needs to be done with the stuff.
