Hi all, just wanted to say hello and Livestrong!
I've been riding for over 20 years, and the doctors are convinced that a big part of my getting through a major operation and 6 cycles of tough chemotherapy was my fitness level due to regular cycling. Now that I think I've beaten this thing, I'm back to cycling. I'm base-building right now, averaging about 70-80 miles a week; mostly in the aerobic heart rate zones (60-75% of max). I'll be 60 in a few months and planning or riding the 100 mile course of the Tour de Hamptons at the end of Sept.
I ride a Ti Litespeed Vortex, a Ciocc Challenger alum/carbon, a Calfee carbon Tetra Pro, and a Fausto Coppi Ltd. alum/carbon. All have DuraAce 9spd components. I am seriously thinking of switching chainrings to the compact 50/34 from the std. 53/39 as I feel a little heavier on the hills inspite of losing 25 lbs going through my health ordeal.
Cheers from Long Island, and lift those heels!
