Never heard of Vashon Island. As a matter of fact the only Vashon I've ever heard of was on Hawaii Five-O, a 3 part story entitled "V" for Vashon. Needless to say the Vashons where the bad guys.

I grew up on Vashon! Graduated from High School in '73! That was before the new school was built. I left it in '74 and have only occasionally visited it. Nice place though. It is the home of K2 bicycles now. When I lived on the rock, K2 made skis, I worked for them through my senior year.
Vashon exists!
Welcome to the forums hansamania!
I'm assuming that's off Washington? Anywhere near BC??

Slightly south and west of Seattle, in the middle of the Puget Sound.

Lofter, you and I aren't that far apart...I'm northwest of you...18 miles the other side of Havana...so you got the corn and bean fields spot on!!

Bernedotte is on one of my training routes, there are a couple of good hills in the area. On both the Spoon river weekends I'll be over at the Cuba American Legion selling some butterfly pork chop sandwiches...there is a pretty good chance you'll catch me there.
I'll not be riding in this area during the drive weekends! Too many elderly ladies driving around in their Yank Tanks for me. I'll ride over in Macomb area if I ride.
Maybe we'll see you!
sure ill come look you up , probably be hungry by then too lol. no way would i even try to ride those roads then it would be suicide

I know Vashon Island very well. I live south of Vashon in University Place (suburb of Tacoma). My wife's parents have lived on the Island for many years. One is active with horse breeding and another is active with his plane at the local airport. Was just there for the annual airport potluck on Labor Day Weekend. I get the chance to ride on the island a couple times a year. Some good hills and if you include Maury Island it makes for a nice hilly 50 mile ride. You can then do it in the opposite direction for a very hilly century from my house to and from the ferry and a loop of Point Defiances five mile drive on the return.
