Electronics, Lighting, & Gadgets - DIY taillight housing: silicone?

I built a DIY taillight very similar to one mrbubbles posted a couple years ago, bought a PBSF since and never put the DIY into service, until now. I am going to mount it in an old altoids tin. My question is what type of adhesive can I use to secure the driver, battery case, etc? Is there a special type of silicone (or similar) or can I just use the adhesive caulking silicone stuff from the local hardware store?

I don't need waterproof, but would like to use silicone to guard against vibrations shaking things loose. Possibly load up most of the tin with the stuff, similar to the inside of a Shure SM58 mic for you music folks out there.

I would say if your going to put it in an altoids tin you might try padding.
Get yourself some foam about the thickness of the inside of the tin.
Cut a piece out that fits inside the tin tightly.
Trace all the parts that your going to put in it on the foam.
Cut out all the shapes you just drew with and x-acto knife.
Glue the foam into the tin.

It's the same idea as the cases that really high end video cameras come in.

Any kind of silicone works to stick the driver on to the tin, just make sure the electrical connections don't short circuit the tin. I used ge silicone.
