Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Hi. I'm a Noob. a few fixed gear questions: decent frame...chain line

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm looking for a fixed/track frame. I'm not looking for the best or most expensive but a fair frame - I'm currently riding a Cannondale R300 as a fixed gear. I'd prefer to buy something used like from craigslist since it would be cheaper than buying something new.

What are some good frames to look out for and what is a decent price to pay? I'm 6'3 so I need something like 61/62cm - not sure if some manufacturers make those sizes more than others. And or, what are some frames to stay away from. I'd like to pay $200 or less

Also. My chainline is a little off on my current bike. I bought some small spacers to put between the spider and chainring, which has helped a little but not much. Is there a point of having too big of spacers where it becomes unsafe to ride? - I'm not talking like 1/2" spacers or anything. What other alternatives do I have to creating a straighter chainline? A spacer between the cog and hub?

Thank you.

1. Frames: there are tons and tons of different frames out there. Not even sure where to start.

2. Chainline: You can just add more spacers to the spider (that's what I would do) but if the chainline is way off you'll have to rearrange the spacers on your rear axle. Once you've done this, you might find your wheel is no longer centered in the frame. Getting the wheel re-dished will solve that problem and you'll be set. If your crankset uses a square taper bottom bracket, you could just get a bottom bracket with a shorter/longer spindle length to straighten out your chainline.
