Okay so I have been accumulating a lot of bikes lately. I finally decided yesterday that I should build something with all of the bikes I have. My goal with this was to build my first single speed only using the parts that I had at my disposal. The only thing I ended up buying was a special freewheel removing socket (which I broke eventually) and a spoke torquing tool. Anyway I didn't have a seat post small enough for this frame even though I have like 3 or 4 laying around so that is the only thing I didn't put on it yet. I do plan on painting the frame and keeping this bike. Even without the seat it's a blast to ride.

It doesn't need them. Old Suntour Pro Comp freewheel body with inner cogs splined outer cogs threaded. The only problem is he'll never be able to remove that cog if he wants to. I did something similar in my conversion of an early 1970s Mercier 100, except I have a second splined cog on the inside of the freewheel body for the sole purpose of permitting removal of the threaded cog to permit changes in gearing.

good point about removing the cog I didn't even think of that... but oh well those Suntour free wheels are dime a dozen. Also as long as the cog doesn't somehow break than i won't need to change it the gear ratio is perfect for me. I love the Mixte frames i have a 12 speed Motobecane mixte that I fixed up but she's blue. And yes your right the chain line is perfectly straight so no spacers needed.

Notice how I didn't say he needed the spacer, I just said it looks wrong.

if someone did that to my bike i'll rip off the handlebars they put on and beat them with it.
