I forgot which way to turn on my fork to adjust the setting. I have a 01 Rockshox Judy XC, which way should I turn the knob to make it stiffer? You may just tell me to crank it all the way to one end and compare the stiffness, but somehow I still feel that it's just as soft. Although this is a 3 year old fork, I have rarely used it, not even on a trail yet, but I am going to give it some real miles soon. It's practically new if you want to put it this way. So, if the adjustment knob doesn't do much, is there any problem with the fork, or will I only be able to tell on the trail? What can I do about it?

is the judy xc low-end? i know for my marz mz comp, i cant tell the diff whichever way i set the preload. but i digress - clockwise to loosen counter to tighten

Turning clockwise with increase your preload and "should" make the fork stiffer.

probably not much you can do if it's an elastomer fork unless you get new cartridges.

Clockwise will get a firmer,stiffer preload and counterclockwise will loosen up the preload and give you a more plush/softer ride. Just think about what the knob is doing. If you turn it clockwise it threads down into the crown/stansion, thus putting pressure on the spring. Low end forks usually don't have much adjustability so you can turn that knob until your blue in the face and it won't feel much different.

So is Judy XC a low end fork? I thought it's pretty good. I thought so because the bike has avid mech disk brakes, Deore on the front and LX on the rear, which I know are pretty good parts. Well, I bought this bike really because I got an unbelievably good deal on it and did not do much research abt it. I don't know as much about bikes as I want to.

Also, I can adjust the right knob and feel the stop. However I can be turning the left one for ever in either direction. Does it mean that the thread has been stripped inside? I have no problem using it but I just want to find out if it's a serious problem.
