View Full Version : grips
I recently purchased new grips on my handlebars and whoever installed them put them at different angles. I feel bad complaining about this but it makes my hands really uncomfortable when I ride. How can I change the angle of one of the grips?

on a warm day twist them. they're probably not glued.
have Access to an Air compressor?, may be able to loosen them
by blowing pressurized air in under the grip..
thats the best way to remove grips, short of cutting them off..

try to peel and edge up on the grip that's misaligned and stick something narrow in there like a toothpick to create a tiny gap between the bar and the grip. pour some rubbing alcohol into the gap and try to work it around the grip, after awhile the grip should start to loosen on the bar and you'll be able to reposition it. the alcohol will eventually evaporate and the grip will once again be firmly placed on the bar without slipping and sliding. if the grip is stuck on there real good, it can be tough to break the friction bond, but keep at it and you'll get there eventually.

Try inserting a screw driver at the edge of the grip and spray the opening with WD 40. Remove the screw driver and try rotating the grip from the edge to the tip little by little so that the WD40 can spread and you'll find it easy to remove the grip.
