A soused Stuart man was jailed after deputies say he was engaged in an "obscene argument" with his bicycle, a recently released arrest affidavit states.

BialonRichardStanley.jpgMartin County Sheriff's deputies spied Richard Bialon, 68, around 4 a.m. Tuesday "yelling at his bicycle" in the parking lot of a Mobil gas station in the 3900 block of South Kanner Highway.

"Customers were coming to the Mobil and were very disturbed as to the yelling and obscene argument the defendant was having with his bicycle," the affidavit states.

The affidavit didn't specify what the argument was about or whether Bialon had accused the pedal-powered vehicle of wrongdoing.

Bialon, of the 5500 block of South Kanner Highway, had been imbibing all day and was described as "very intoxicated."

He was arrested on a misdemeanor disorderly intoxication charge and taken to jail.

This is actually kinda worrying for me because I've actually spent a good deal of time with my bicycle upside-down (or on the kickstand) while alternating between swearing profusely in multiple languages and trying to sweet talk it into cooperating with me.

Florida always seems to get the wierd ones...

Funny and sad at the same time.

The article is prolly a bit misleading. Since you can't really have an argument with a bicycle, the charges were surely based on his intoxicated condition.

If the man was arguing, then the bike must have been talking back.

When I was 10; I got mad and threw a wrench at my bicycle once. It grabbed it with the tire and threw it right back at me. I had a knot on my forehead for a couple days!
Even to this day, that is why I don't throw things when I am mad. (Well, maybe if I was uber mad...)

I don't know what's sadder, that he was so drunk that he was arguing with his bike or that he apparently lost the argument. On the plus side, had it been a bicycle cop who arrested him, he might have been charged with a domestic as well.

Be nice to your steed. Just because we made it safely past August 4, 1997 doesn't mean our faithful machines won't still turn on us at some point.

Nah, the bike was the 'husband' in the relationship, and was baiting its 'wife' by ignoring 'her'.

I have yet to yell at any of my bikes but nature on the other hand. . .

Frakkin time I was riding home, the last day of my tour. I got a flat and it started pouring just as I started to change it. Turns out I didnt patch one from the night before correctly so I had to poorly patch two in the rain because the water would not let the glue set right. Then I remembered about my backup, backup spare tube. Well, after quite some time I was FINALLY ready to go so I started loading up. Lo and behold, the rain stopped. Didnt let up, didnt drizzle, STOPPED. To add insult to injury, not a mile down the road were about a dozen covered areas I could have patched up under but couldnt ride to before because the flats were so fast.

If I had been that bike, I would have gotten up & rolled away.

Must've been an old Puch. Puchs are known for their sarcasm.

(Me getting my new set of hex wrenches out to do adjustments on my Puch)

Puch: Oh yeah, here's the "Mechaniac" showing up with his new tools. What are those hexs for? Yourself? You know I only use open end wrenches.

(Me staring blankly at my bike)

Puch: Oh THAT'S good. That'll get the job done! Now run along like a good boy and get your set of open end wrenches. I swear, you young whippersnappers come a day late and a dollar short!

I have never argued with my bike. If something is going wrong with my bike, I usually put my frustrations into a 4 letter word or words. Loudness depends on my surrounding.
