Foo - That was awful

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
My kids school called about 30 minutes after I dropped off my daughter. Seems she ran into a pole at recess and split open her forehead over the left eye. Spent the morning in the ER. She was in absolute tears and screaming when it came time for the shot. The stitches were easy in comparison.
I hate when the kids are screaming like that and there's not a dang thing I can do to help other than to be there and hold a hand.

Awww, man. Hope she's ok.
I got hit in the head by a rock someone threw when I was 5. It knocked me to the ground and by the time I got up, my face was covered in blood. The teacher freaked worse then I did.
I had the shot, got stitches in my eyebrow, and wore a funny cushion thingy for a day. The shot hurt a bit, the stitches not at all.
So I can relate to what she's feeling. Hope she gets over it quickly.
Yep, been there and done that with one of my boys. Burned his hands when he was only two on an open oven door. All you can do is hold them and give them all the comfort you can.

Yeah, I can relate to your daughter. Shots scare me a whole lot; stitches, not so much. Give her lots of ice cream and hug her so she feels better!
She's much better now that we're home. Fallen asleep, which isn't surprising. A little while ago I found her in the bathroom standing on the sink and looking at the mess in the mirror.

Sorry to hear that.
I had to take my son to the ER for a split open gushing forehead one Friday night when he fell out of bed. Nothing so sad.
Interesting waiting room scene, ER on a Friday night.

you think that was bad, just wait until she's late getting back from her first date.

I'm the tough guy who nearly passed out while holding one of my kids while the doc put stitches in his head!

As a paramedic, I laughed at danger, blood, gore and vomit. It is sure different when it is one of your kids, though.

I didn't pass out but I cried and he didn't. The Dr. asked me if I was okay.

I'm lost...what's "the shot"?

The toughest thing for me was that I had to take my 1 year old (at the time) daughter to have her blood drawn for a blood test. I had to sit in the chair and hold her down while the lab tech did the procedure while she was screaming and crying. And the tech missed the vein and had to do it twice.
Luckily my wife didn't go otherwise she would have been so upset.

I think it is the tetanus shot.

Probably the shot to the numb the area before the stitches go in.

This one.
Stitches are to come out on Wed. Hopefully she'll handle that ok. Since she got the stitches, she's been fine.

Oh good, loks like she wil be OK in spite of the adult attention.

awwww - poor kid. And I discovered due to my last glass on hand slicing session this past winter - that the shots are not around the boo boo, but rather inside the boo boo.
ugh.
Poor kid

My son performed a stellar face plant earlier this spring while racing friends on his bike. Due to all my accidents I am fairly adept at taking care of scrapes, bruises, bleeding, and what not. Still a bit distressing to see his face and the crying. I don't flip out to keep the kid calm. Just took care of the bleeding, calmed him down, and cleaned him up. Then spent the next few days spoiling him. He did have fun telling the story at school. Boys... :p

Heck yes. I still wouldn't complain if I had a girl.
That is in addition to my son. He is a wonderful kid.
