Thank You, scrapmetal!
That explains a lot.
You see I must be part Czech. Maybe I was adopted by the Irish Catholics and Redneck Methodists or something. I know I had some worthless Slovak GF who couldn't drink beer worth a **** and I had to beat her up and give her to a road gang that was passing through. Humorless and dour.
I'm booking a flight to Prague when I get out. Hopefully that will be in about six months if I maintain good behavior. Screw probation. I'm going for the ticket!

Haha, in the beginning this is the music of Clockwork Orange! And yes, Czech republic is indeed a nice place to have a beer.

As someone of Slovak parentage, I must protest!

We have Urquel and Staropramen in Virginia, found Kozel in Toronto once, even in half liter bottles but nothing beets the atmosphere. beer and food of beer in Prague.

I can usually get Urguell and Czechvar around here. And Becehorvka haha. But it doesn't even taste the same :( I think I need to move to the East Coast. It's so much more like Europe than Cali... I wish I had a chance to visit the czech community in Chicago when I was there, I bet I'd find some good beer. Right now I'm just surviving off my yearly visits home to Czechland lol
I bet it's much easier to find a good czech community on the east coast then here in Cali. Everyone is scattered here :(

Locally - Virginia - I can find Staropramen (Praha - Smichov), Pilsner Urquel (Plzen, of course) and Czechvar (Ceske Budejovice) - bottles, what else.
But there is nothing like a pub in Czech with beer on draft.

I think Czechvar is the best available Czech beer in the states... I have also recently discovered that you can buy Jelinek slivovitz here, and all I can say is that I'm gonna have a pretty amazing New Years :D I just made a Croatian friend, so it's gonna be a Slavic Silvestr
They have Budvar on draft at my local "central European" restaurant (it's really czech because it's owned by czechs and majority of the menu is czech)
