On my second bike I need to replace the BB, but I have no idea what size type ect. i need. Ive tried getting it from the trek website but its not working. Its a 2004 trek 4900. Does anyone know?

should probably ask the shop you got the bike from either that or take off the bb and take to shop for a replacement of the same size. if you're asking to try to buy a bb from the net, i think you can just measure it. should be 63mm or 72mm if i'm not mistaken those are the common sizes..

You have the Bontrager sport crankset (http://www.bontrager.com/cranks/detail.asp?id=155&pt=3). You need a 113 mm square taper BB. Measure your bottom bracket shell with a simple metric ruler to tell the length. I think i have the same frame on my 4300 and it is 73 mm.

You'll need a couple of special tools too (if you don't already know, if you do then stop reading now)
An 8mm allen wrench
A crank puller
A bottom bracket tool
Some anti-sieze compound or a good lube.
Remember the non-drive side is reverse thread, so the righty tighty only works on the righty bikey. (meaning drive side of the bike)
Some people also will put a couple wraps of teflon tape, but I only use this if creaking is a problem. Usually the anti-sieze or grease eliminates any creaking in aluminum frame.
