Commuting - Micro adjustment for rear brake - LHT

What is everyone's best solution for adjusting rear brakes on the LHT? The cantilever stop has no threaded connection, and the only ways to do fine adjustments are to tighten the cable at the straddle link, or make the straddle cable shorter. I am finicky about getting the straddle cable length right, and adjusting at the straddle cable holder is a pain in the butt.

Is there something like an in-line adjuster for brakes like there are for derailleurs?

You're not going to like my answer..... My LHT came with a year of free adjustments.... I've made good use of that :)

All my mt bike brakes have an in line adjuster where the cable comes out of the lever.

However most drop bars don't have a built in adjuster barrel.

You do have plenty of options available though. In line brake levers (http://harriscyclery.net/product/cane-creek-crosstop-auxiliary-cross-levers-f-drop-bars.-black.-24mm-clamp-1679.htm)almost always have an adjuster barrel, and you get a secondary set of brake levers.

I don't remember off the top of my head about the LHT cable hanger, but you can possible replace it with one of these (http://sheldonbrown.com/harris/cable-hardware-brake.html) from Surly. If that doesn't strike your fancy, the same site has in-line adjusters than can go just about anywhere.

Seems like a lot of effort for such a normal thing. The LHT should have come with adjusters!

Yeah I don't know why they call it a derailer adjuster. Whatever, it works for brakes. And they come in pairs so just get one package.

Ditto on the inline adjusters -- they advertise for derailleur use only, but have worked fine on my LHT for quite a while now.

I also have an adjuster on the unthreaded rear cable stop that kind of works....basically just grease it and use a wrench to turn the nut.

Aggigrads, My Long Haul Trucker actually came with one of these installed from the LBS when I purchased it. It's mounted in front of the stem, shortly after the cable leaves the brake lever. Maybe you can take your trucker back and request the shop installs it.

Doesn't your brake have little allen screw adjusters on the side? I'll check my commuter; I think it has the same brake.

Edit: try turning the little screw. In the picture there's a little blue on the threads.

Those screws are for adjusting the return spring tension to get both pads to retract from the wheel (if I'm looking at the correct screw in your photo, anyway). They don't adjust the cable.
