Fifty Plus (50+) - N+1, just a bit on the low end of the food chain

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Well, I've finally achived N+1, ok, it's not the real cool bikes I see lot's of the 50+'ers add to their stable but I've been wanting to get a bike to be my pure, Utility/Back up" bike for the Convereted Jamis Trail-X 3.0 so it doesn't get as many "miles" piled up on it as it's the ONLY bike to all the duties of a car less rider for the last two years.:D

It's all chrome-moly tubed, rigid MTB, that I'm converting to "utility" mode, it's a Trail Ridge, Trail Head CT-10, LOL, ya I know, who ever heard of a bike called Trail Ridge, not me:innocent: Still it should suit the mission and it was very inexpensive, ok, CHEAP, price wise so it fit's the little budget we have. Actually it's kinda a kick to ride and I don't worry about it getting stolen, cause it's not a bike most would "desire", that's a big plus for a utility bike, jmho. Cost is a non-issue when it comes to satisfying N+1. Even free works. Nice color.

Looks ok to me. I'd love to find one of those early MTB's to convert to a commuter or touring rig. they just look cool

Older rigid frame MTBs are the best buy in bicycling IMHO.

Looks like a keeper! The bike will be a good go-getter.

That's a good looking machine. Looks like a early to mid-90's bike judging by the five spoke crank. Cantilever brakes? Lots of tire clearance in back. Looks like it has a rear D/R hangar which shows much higher quality than a lot or 90's bikes that sold for $300-$500 back then. Very similar to thousands of Treks from that era.

Grease it up and ride it till the bearings wear out, then buy some new hubs.

Almost impossible to find a good hardtail MTB without a front shock setup these days. That bike looks perfect. Don't ever get rid of it.
