Coworker brought this by and wanted to build it for his son. No wheels makes it tough and the build price seems to be around $170 (new wheels, saddle, cables, pads, chain, more) by my estimation and it'll still be covered in rust.

I was wondering if it'd be better to sell off the components to make some money for him to get/build a SS road bike he can ride to school.

What type of value do you guys think this has in it? Get wheels and make it a whole bike or part it out and use the money for something else? If I had $60 I'd have offered it.

Faggin steel frame. Rust spots, flaking paint, slightly flattened dent on the top tube of the seat lug. Forks and seatstays chrome is surface rusted badly.

No wheels, which really sucks.

Full campy components down to the headset. Nothing too seized, but the finish on them would need a good polish as they've seen better days. Not sure of the component level.
Seatpost is aero campy but looks like someone took a pipewrench and a hammer to it to free it. Sad.

Whaddya think? What's the best way to get him some money out of it? sorry for the poor pics.

It is my perfect size so I'm tempted too.

Personally, I would explain it to them that the cheapest way to get that bike on the road would be to find a donor bike. Then I would explain that if the donor bike was in good shape, probably going to be better, he may be better off riding the donor unless he is attached to this particular frame. Then, sell off the components.

What a shame..

Faggin's have a following, as I've tried to steal a few cheap off ebay but never even come close.
Of course, this one has some issues.
The groupset appears to be Victory, an underappreciated set. Of course, one reason may be the 116bcd rings.

It sat, unloved, in a backyard after they picked it up years ago.
I'll see what he wants to do with it. I''m sort of interested in what an oxalic acid bath would do.
