Hi all,
I'm looking to begin commuting to work via bicycle. In the past this would have been impractical, but I've since moved and now my commute is less than three miles and as such is a waste to use my car; although I consider myself an automobile enthusiast what enjoyment can I get out of 3 miles of stop signs and traffic lights in town? Why not save gas money and get in better shape, right?
I dug out my bicycle that I've had since grade school. In addition to looking out of place with a 23 year old riding it, it's in need of a significant amount of service after years without use.
Can anyone recommend a good bicycle for my commute and where to go for it? I am planning on doing this almost every day that the weather is permitting. I may go for rides on some of the local bike trails but my commute is my main concern. I also need something that will stand the test of time and being stored outdoors occasionally. Most importantly I don't have a fortune to spend, but I can afford more than a wal-mart special as well.
Thanks for your reading!
