I've been out to Rachel, NV, and it really looks like that. Especially after a tuna melt at the the Little A'Le'in!
But, I'm sure the Feds require Google to block "sensitive" areas, even though some aerial photos of Groom Lake have been released. I'm just surprised they do it so, um, psychodelically.

They photo'd that area at NIGHT!!!
I was trying to research an area in southern Colorado and found the same thing- photos taken at night. Totally useless. I can't imagine why they would do that.
Looks like an EA-6B was flying over the Google camera while they were driving through the area!
(EA-6B = US Navy jammer; the plane I flew)
Too much mescaline maybe. I've had days similar to this while I was young.
