Tomorrow is Saturday!
Everyday will be Saturday for rck.
Probably too late to tell you this, but....
BE SURE TO RIDE OUT THE FRONT DOOR -- I'M GOING TO, EVERY DAY OF THE LAST WEEK ON MY PRESENT JOB!
You know, that is great but bite me. I soooooooo want out
You are one lucky dude! Congratulations!!!!!!
Thank you! Thank you! I figure it will take a couple of days to sink in, however, it all ready feels pretty good. After 37 years in the business (health care)I decided that it was time to leave while I still liked the patients. That being said, I freely admit that in those years I met very few people that were truly difficult to deal with. A bit of a miracle, especially as many of them had reason to be unhappy with their lot in life.
We had plenty of pie albeit, pizza pie and no one cried except a couple of administrators. (It was said, somewhat unkindly and certainly without just cause on my part, that those were tears of joy.)
I was going to start cleaning the house tomorrow as I now have plenty of time but gcottay and Kerlenbach have reminded me that its saturday and I always ride on saturday!

Enjoy the ride(s).

Congratulations! Retirement does feel pretty good. I've felt this way for almost 2 years:D
Don't worry about the house....there are much more important things in life than a clean house. I learned this years ago when my kids were still living at home. I decided I would much rather attend their sporting events, go riding with them, etc. You won't look back on life and remember the clean house but you will remember the times you spent doing things you enjoy or hanging out with family and friends:thumb:

May you find kind and useful words on the new page in your life. May you record there things that meet with your satisfaction. Most of all, may you have fun.
Welcome to the life of leisure. I'd have posted earlier, but it was nap time.:p

Now that I've had a little time to get over the fact that I now hate you ;), congratulations! Enjoy!
Save a place for me. I'll be there in two years and one month (but who's counting?).

Enjoy the ride!, you've earned it after 37 years. I retired a year and a half ago, then went right back to work in the same job @ 3 days/week. For the time being I've got perpetual 4 day weekends (extra Saturdays).
Serious congrats, guy.
(I wonder if I WILL actually retire; my nest egg got wiped three years ago to save the house.... Even if I don't, eventually there will be a time when I will have a fair amount of time to myself, at which time I will likely spend 2x the time riding that I do now! Sorry, just had to share that.)

You'll find yourself doing things around the house thats been neglected the past 15 or so, then come to realize these do not need to be done now. I was busy as hell the first 6mos after I retired. Took a while to get into the swing of things.

+1 Remember, you are now on one loooooooong weekend!:thumb: I'm working (no pun intended) on getting my long weekend started in a year.
Congratulations.
I did not work for two years, from 61 to 63, but went back to part time. Needed the structure. Hope you can do better than that.

so what was it like, not waking up to an alarm clock two work days in a row?

My brother and his family lived in Monroe for a few years after leaving Madison, and before they moved to Fondulac. His wife worked in marketing at the hospital.
I visited many times, both in Madison and Monroe, and during the years in Monroe, many pizzas and pitchers of beer were consumed at the Swiss House.
I enjoyed south central WI, but coming from central IL, the hills overwhelmed me a bit. There was no place to ride out of town that didn't mean hills. Except the trail to New Glarus, which we tried one beautiful autumn day, only to realize about half-way there that it was hunting season and we were the only non-hunters anywhere around. We got off the trail in a hurry.
My other vivid memory was how astoundingly large the crowd was during the annual cheese festival. For a town that size, it was huge and packed so tightly you had to elbow your way through to get anywhere.
Congratulations. Everyday is a Saturday...life is good.:thumb:

Man, talk about your Wisc stereotypes.
^^ I hope everyone knows I meant nothing derogatory in those statements. That's just the way it was, and frankly at that time of year and at that place, a more thoughtful rider than we would have never ventured onto the trail in the first place, at least not without a lot of fluorescent orange attire. And the crowd at the cheese festival really was huge.
While they're not necessarily anything close to an accurate reflection of folks, most stereotypes don't get to be stereotypes without at least some small basis in fact, even if it's in the distant past.

Cheese Days, yes! Thank you - I couldn't remember the name of the festival.
