Has anyone any experience with these? I frequently take bike rides just to coffee shops and pick up a nice one. And what one might be the best model?

They all do what theyre supposed to do - which is hold a coffee cup. I highly doubt that one is better an any of the others.

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience riding with one.

i like the LOOK of the soma one, but i would guess the ones lined with the rubbery stuff be better.

I enjoy coffee quite a bit too, but don't think I'd ever want to strap a hot cup of it to the front of my bike. I can't imagine hitting any sort of bump with a full cup of hot joe mounted to your bars would yield any sort of favorable results.

The Orgin 8 with a stainless mug with a flip top close of the hole works for me. Don't try putting the Starbucks cardboard cup in there, believe me....

The frame I wound up with in the Vilano doesn't even have the water bottle mounts. That's fine by me though, I figure on getting a really ice cold beverage, or in this case a hot cup of coffee at a convenience or coffee store. Next thing you know, they'll have a tray to attach to the handlebars so you can ride thru a McDonalds drive thru and then eat your value meal curbside or while riding ? Anyway, these are probably better for cruiser style bikes ?

The 09 Langster Seattle came with a coffee cup holder. But I think you need to look more into a durable, leak proof coffee mug than a holder.

More importantly, which will hold my Route 44 drink from Sonic for the last half-mile of my commute?

I'd buy the one from Portland Design Works (PDW) if I were you. They need the money more than Soma, Origin8 or any of the others.

I think this is the answer I'm looking for, a holder AND a nice mug.

If you have a piece of metal and a hose clamp you can make one!

I wish that were possible. Not the tray idea, i mean ride thru McD. I tried that once at a white castle near me and they basically said "only if u are in a car". But it was midnight and nobody was at the drive thru so why can't i get some burgers!! :(

the mcdonalds on atlantic will let you walk through the drive through after the other part is closed, i'm sure they'd let you ride a bike through

really.. maybe it's just white castle then. Coz the main part was closed at the time that's why i tried the drive thru and the lady said no go. Booo.

It's easier for a criminal to rob the drive thru employee if they walk up to the drive thru window. It's for the safety of the employees.

That's what I was figuring. I recall a lot of places in Phoenix when I lived there having signs at the drive thru that said you must be in a vehicle and it was pretty common for late night taco places to get robbed at gunpoint at the drive thrus there. One time while at a Filaberto's in a sketchy part of town, a robbery happened while my friend John and I were inside eating. The dude robbing the place got all heated because they weren't giving up the money and let two shots fly into the ceiling. We dove under some tables like we were in a bad action movie. The whole time, my friend continued to stuff his face with his pork tacos. I whispered, "dude, are you serious?" and he said "**** dying while you're hungry". True story.

When I lived down in Portland and closed down bars all the time, getting drive thru action while on a bike was tough.
Burgerville drive thrus are officially bike friendly, but their drive thrus usually close at the same time as the dining room, so hardly makes sense to me - unless you don't have a lock, I suppose, but then you gotta stand in line huffin' exhaust to get your burgers, ugghhh...

And these aren't suspended or fitted with Zerts/carbon inserts for road vibration why?
What do they think we are? Neanderthals?

Oh! The humanity!

These have adjustable diameter and depth and they're gimbaled for maximum lean angle with minimum spillage in the village.

I'd have to imagine the long arm would just increase the ejection rate when you hit that pothole, though.
