I thought rollerblading had lost its popularity, but in the past couple of weeks, I've been seeing rollerbladers. Anyone here still rollerblade?

The veloway in Austin is very popular spot for rollerblading...pretty serious crews down there sometimes that paceline around the 3.1 mile loop. A good time for me is sub-10 minute on my bike...I would guess they can do 11-minute laps.

I despise rollerbladers who take up the entire path/bike lane by pretending like they're speed skaters, swinging limbs all over the place.

My wife rollerbladed until she got pregnant.

I used to, a lot - commuted to classes on them, and buzzed around trails after I finished (gotta love taking a humanities major at university.) I don't really know why I stopped - I guess I got more into cycling? Also I was a terrible chicken for the first couple of weeks in the spring, I would see an upcoming curb and freak out that I was not going to make it, which made me wipe out all that much sooner. Or just randomly fall over at stop lights, which was embarrassing.

Excellent workout though, and much lower-impact than running (aside from the high-impact crashes.)

there are a few regulars on my loop through the forest preserve. They do tend to take up more of the path and have headphones in though.
