Introductions - Hi from Canberra!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Hi, I'm a disabled granny who is trying my best to stay cycling. To that end my husband bought me a Giant Revive semi-recumbent last December.

I'm now hoping to adapt it with an electric motor as my arthritis and wider health benefit hugely from riding, but my heart health is preventing me from riding wholly under my own steam.

My husband found this site while helping me to research electric bike conversions.

Any other Canberrans around here?

Cheers Tigger, welcome to Bike Forums.

I've visited Canberra once and have a friend living there. Does that count? :)

I think that counts!

After all, I'm not even Australian! I've only been in Canberra since February 2008 having moved here after spending three years in Adelaide.

Thanks for the welcome! :)

Hi Tigger,
Saw your other note in Atsffan's introduction.
I like your spirit. Never say "I quit"

Thank you for the greetings, everybody! :)

I'm pleasantly surprised that such a huge community can make new members feel so welcome!

Anthony, yes Queanbeyan is quite close, by Aussie standards. Too far for a cycle ride, though. :(

Are you a member of any local cycling clubs?

I was riding with the Canberra Veterans Cycling Club for a while which is the veteran racing club but I've been a bit slack lately. I guess that Pedal Power is the right club for you to look at. They are quite strong in Canberra.

Thanks for the reply.

Sorry I didn't get back to you. I actually managed a short ride on Tuesday evening. It was great, and gave my confidence a boost, but I have spent the last two days in bed, recovering. :( Moral? Don't get chronic disorders.

I just remembered that we are members of Pedal Power but I didn't think of that as a club so much as a pressure group. Silly me!
