Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Klein Fg/ss

So I was considering converting my Klein Fervor into a fg/ss. But I wanted to put 700c wheels on it. The only problem I am having is that the brakes don't line up with the rims.

Is that even possible to do? Should I just keep my 26" wheels and put 1.3-1.5" tires on? I do have a set of low spoke Rolf rims from an old old Fuel mtb that got wrecked.

Also, do you think drop bars would be OK on this frame? Would it be comfortable as a commuter or would I be too cramped, it seems to be a compact-ish frame.

I am trying to decide if I should convert this frame or just buy a complete bike. I don't want to spend several hundred on the Klein only to find out that it wont work as planned. But I guess in the end I would just have a sweet light fg/ss mtb.

honestly i don't think it's worth it, and a Klein is a terrible thing to waste.

just keep it in good shape for what it was meant to be.

It's a mountain bike, that's what it was meant for. If you want to convert it to a FG/SS MTB that's fine, but honestly I think you'll be unhappy with it as a "road" bike. Find an old road bike and do a FG/SS conversion on that. I think you'll like it a lot better.

Edit: I have a MTB fixed gear commuter/winter bike and I like it a lot. But I kept the 26" wheels. I tried drops on it but the geometry was horrible.

Thanks guys, it just seemed like a opportunity type of thing. I have the bike, and never use it. Maybe I will just convert it to 26" mtb commuter w/ slicks.

paul levers are beautiful. i'd just put slicks on it and get some fenders. if you have zero hills, get a single conversion kit for your freehub and gear it for cruising speed.
