Fifty Plus (50+) - Official Member as of Today

Hi All

Well I am an official member of the Fifty Plus forum today. Looking forward to conversing with you all about this wonderful hobby. I enjoy both mountain and road biking. I enjoy the Specialized brand of bikes owning a Stumpjumper for my mountain outings and a Roubaix for me road rides. I have to say I lean a little more towards mountain biking right now; however, last year participated in a few metric centuries and enjoyed that. Again, I am an enthusiasts, and opinionated, so definitely looking to make some new friends here and participating in the conversations. Here is to a good ride today...hitting the mountains with the family. Hopefully you all will have a good ride today...enjoy.

At 50 I was mountain biking- at 59 I was still doing serious mountain biking- At 63 I am still Mountain biking- but only just. Only thing is that the body is giving out fast for the fast lumpy bits. At least you have prepared yourself by getting one of these road things so you can get used to riding at more than 10mph uphills.

So what model Roubaix- what mods- and before we commit ourselves--What colour?

Keep the mountain biking up- the aggressive riding does come to an end eventually so enjoy it while you can.

And most important- will it be offroad or on the black stuff on the 18th?

My Roubaix is an expert triple...Black with red pinstripe lettering. I enjoy it. I wanted a double, but the area i live in is pretty hilly and the triple is probably a better fit for the riding around here. Thanks for the welcomes everyone. I did ride today...mountain biked about 6 miles of steady climbing and 4 miles of fun downhill. She was a quicky as my friend had scheduled us a golf match this afternoon so time was tight.

Welcome. I ride a Stumpy FSR Comp myself. Great bike. Although I have been a confirmed steel road bike man up to now, I am strongly leaning toward my next bike being a Roubaix Comp Rival. Looking forward to reading more about your enthusiasm and opinions.

Welcome to our club, and happy Joseph Anton Bruckner's birthday to you! (I share mine w/ Tullio Campagnolo, which seems pretty cool, as well.) I now qualify for the 60+ group Denver keeps threatening to start. The best part of hitting 60 is that my wife and I now qualify for greatly reduced senior fares on our local public transit system, on which I commute every workday.
