Fifty Plus (50+) - Bet you don't see this on your bike route!

It's been a long three weeks since I've been in the saddle much(bike) and I'm really missing it. Family obligations and needs had derailed almost all bike related avtivities and it'll still be several days before I can ride again.

Returning the twin daughters to there respective schools was quite an involved process this year which involved several weeks of preparation, packing, and then about 2,000 miles of driving.

See if anyone recognizes where we were.

Now that we're home I'm trying to get back into my 'Empty Nest' routine. The wife and I had breakfast out and then we took the truck along my usual 'out & back' bike route along the lakeshore. I wanted to see if the chipseal that was applied a few weeks ago was packed in yet. It is.

The thrill for today was watching these gents enjoying the 30 - 35 mph breeze we had today...

It would have been nice to have been on my bike and seen these fellows, but just the same...how many of us get to enjoy sights such as these on our regular bike route?

Plenty of water on most of my routes but it is the sea. Anything of interest is normally too far away to take a pic of.

But going back to one of your earlier postings- and the Herons. Saw a pair on my ride yesterday at close quarters- too close as they took off above my head as I got level with them. AND- new for the UK- The first pair of "Purple" herons to have successfully bred in the UK have had their youngsters fledge-(Leave the Nest). So in about 50 years time we may have the variety of Wildlife that you have in the US.

And talking of "Wildlife"- when's the party as you have plenty of room at home till christmas?

Hey, you guys who ride by the sea: Do any of you have any particular problems with corrosion on your bikes? If not the frames, how about your shifter cables, shifter housings, computers, etc.?

I live 6 miles inland and look at the weather forecast. Sea is south of us so a strong southerly and I find a sheltered route inland.

But corrosion is not a problem. Frames may be ally- but they are painted- Stainless steel cables Rims will get enough water on them to wash off any salt so I don't have a problem. And those that live by the sea don't have any problems either---Unless they don't clean their bikes!!!

What we do have problem with though is Seagulls.They are a protected species over here so you can't wring their necks after they have "Spotted" the bike or you when out on a ride. And their spots are enormous and smelly.

First daughter looks like she goes to SUNY @ Albany, my MBA alma mater. A shot of the towers would have helped. Stony brook looks similar. Don't know about the second, but it could be in Saratoga. Pics of the water might be lake george. But then all that could be on long Island also....

The second picture is the Milwaukee Cty historical society on Pere Marquette park, 3rd & Kilbourn. I can see the courthouse in the back on the left. Most likely she's at Marquette or MSOE, outside chance UWM.

Probably could have seen windsurfers on Lk Michigan while here with the wind we've had the last couple of days.

The water sports are on my regular bike route here at home.

Apologize for what? Have I been a bad boy again?

Don`t have any kids at home to take to school.But see the water sports all the time as I ride A1A and beach front on a lot of rides living in Florida.
