i usually ride with brakes so when i bought this kazane with an undrilled fork i immediately started looking for a way to mount a brake. i found only two kits available and luckily both can be found locally! the first was the dia compe brs-101 (http://www.chariandconyc.com/grancompe-keirinbrakekit.aspx) kit and then the eai/promax kit (http://www.benscycle.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=3748). i decided to go with the eai kit since it has better fork clamps and a cross top style lever.
the kit was pretty easy to put on and the whole setup seems really sturdy. the clearance between the tire and the bracket are REALLY close. i suppose i can move the clamps up but i think it will be fine.

How can you even begin to ascertain that?

Just looking at the configuration. It's a thin cantilevered plate being bent out-of-plane in it's weak direction. Compare it to the much larger sections of the brake caliper itself. Even cheap caplipers with small sections can flex noticeably and affect the braking control and effectiveness.

i rode it a little more and i can definitely feel some flex in it but nothing im worried about. im not trying to endo it or anything. its mostly there because I will never feel comfortable in NYC traffic without one.

Looks all right, but a bit weak if you push it. Too many moving parts on my opinion!
