somnatash - whats the saddle you have on it?

The saddle is called "Anatomic 412" which I got at the Eurobike for my Carryme because I wanted to try a saddle without nose fore storing/folding issues...but its not on the bike any more, I could not stand the missing control a nose is giving.
German link here:

You keeping it for another project?
It looks like a good choice for a 'Dutch' bike?

Here she is. Her name is 黑公馬 (hēi gōng mǎ) or Black Stallion in English. Picked her up here in Taiwan for a very nice price. Just nuts the markup that goes into shipping / taxes for bikes made here and shipped to North America. This puppy is only available in Asia though.

Great looking bike! You're right about the markup. If I ever take another trip to Asia I'm gonna buy a folder,

Wanted a folder that would fit in the trunk of my wife's compact car, so we could carpool to her work and I could bike the ~2 miles farther to my work. Also, since I typically take the bus home, thought it would be handy to have a folder in case the bus's bike rack was full (which is the case about 50% of the time at the stop where I get the bus at UCLA). Looked at a $600 Dahon in a bike shop, got scared away by the high prices.
Ended up buying this 26" folding mountain bike for $130 new:
unfolded (http://www.flickr.com/photos/dgalvan/2846551662/in/set-72157607345192447/)
folded (http://www.flickr.com/photos/dgalvan/2865885774/in/set-72157607345192447/)
Sure, it was mass-produced in China, and a few of the parts are cheaply made, but after about $100 spent at the bike shop, I had a well-greased and well adjusted gear shifters and brakes, new town-and-country tires (mainly using it for commuting on asphalt, so didn't need the knobbies), flasher night-lights, and an under-the-seat gear bag.
Works great! It's a big-box bike, so it required more adjusting than you'd expect from a nicer brand bike you'd get at a bike shop, but at around $200 cheaper (at least), I don't mind learning how to fix up the bike myself, not at all.
As for the original intention: It's still a large package when folded, but it fits easily into the trunk of my wife's compact car (a Suzuki Aerio). I usually use the bike racks when taking the bus, but the folding-feature has already saved me 20 minutes one night: instead of waiting for the next bus when I saw the bike rack was full, I just folded the bike and carried it onto the bus. I stood up with the bike perched on my feet, so as not to take an additional seat or get in anyone's way, but it was still better than waiting another 20 minutes just hoping that the next bus wouldn't have a full rack.

After waiting for over 8 months to get a steel Swift frame from Peter Reich I gave up and sourced Moulton TSR frame set instead. The British gentlemen seem to understand the customer needs -just a few days waiting time and I was able to pick up the package.
Some components I sourced for the Swift don't really look good on Moulton. Still, I think I'll delay possible uprades till next spring. Now I'll just rather enjoy the ride.
I like the British Racing Green colour even if it doesn't look as fast as some other colours. The fat 47-406 (20x1,75) marathons are not really fast either but comfortable.

I recently ordered 2 MIAMI citizen Bikes 6-speed folding bikes. Weight is 32 lbs. I expect them to be delivered today or tomorrow. I just discovered this web site today, and was disappointed to read some posts what some had to say about this bike. My wife and I are new to bike riding, we wanted these to take with us on our RV camping trips to the beach and campgrounds. I know we are out of bike shape and otherwise, and will have to work our way into better shape. We are in our early sixties, but we do consider ourselves in good shape for our age, not overweight, non-smokers, etc. So, we are hoping this will turn out to be a good decision. One reason we bought these bikes was due to price, $195.00 for each one. Seemed fair enough. We had no idea there was so much information on foldup bikes on the internet.
My question is does anyone out there actually own one of these bikes and are satisfied? We are hoping it can't be all that bad.
Thanks
Terry

Hi all,
I have not seen anybody reporting on the MR series of Giant bicycles. And that is exactly the bicycle I ride:
It uses 24" wheels on an aluminum frame. Total weight, 10.3 kg (nominal). The wheel base is almost 1 meter: 0.966 m.
I think the riding position is very good. A quite efficient roadie! The MR-4F model comes with flat bars.
http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=85862&stc=1&d=1226031333
On the negative side, folding is not always that easy, and the bag is not cheap (but required to ride the train in Japan with a bicycle).

Does anybody out there use any of the MR series?
Take care out there!

Jogya,
Thank you for the compliment. The MR-4R is indeed quite fast. Its main inconvenient is that the folding routine is not that simple.
But this model seems to be limited to the Japanese market only--I have not seen it on any Giant website for other markets.

Newbie Will here, I just acquired a 2003 blue Dahon Mariner, which is getting a full over-haul: She's on her way to getting "fixed" this afternoon with a nice brand-spankin new rear wheel (Sun CR18 rim on a Formula fix/fix hub), black of course. Pictures to come.

I have a Dahon Speed Pro TT (2008) and LOVE IT! It flys and is very comfortable to ride. It definitely requires a bit more tender love and care than a typical bike, but the convenience is just amazing. I can take it on the Metro or commuter train any time and I often take it into shops with me. I have been exceedingly happy with it. The only thing I did was install some Kool Stop brake pads to give me a bit of extra stopping power, especially crucial during this time of year. :thumb:

I just got an airnimal joey
really nice ride! quick fold, super fast
ive got the nexus 8 speed hub for now, that works ok, although i am saving my pennies to eventually replace it with a rolhoff
i am also building up an alternative fixed gear wheelset to use around town, with an eccentric rear hub
this is a really nice bike! (if I may say so myself)

Good choice!! very understated bike .. are you running 520's or 507's? Time to upload a couple of pics? :thumb:

Occasionally has MZS cude clippless detachable pedals on. Definately a keeper!
Bike two is simular sort of thing done to a Downtube NS8.
Bike three is a upgraded mission space genie with 21 speed dual drive for off road work
This is one of the last ivory Brompton and its mine! Now I made a few modifications, like this old school skate wheels.
These two folding bikes were found during a bulk rubbish pickup-
The red one is a Bridgestone Picnica, single speed with 14" wheels.
The blue one is a VICEROY with 20" wheels, 3 speed Sturmey Archer marked "84-11". It says Viceroy cycles Poole made in Italy.

I ride a bright red dahon Speed D7 every day ,all year round.
I am quite impressed by the quality of these rather inexpensive bikes , it really holds up well, not too flexy , not to much maintenance , no problems whatsoever .Good buy, I'd say.
The hospital I work for pays for mileage run on bikes, to encourage workers and to counteract the lack of parkingspace,as well as city-politics to lower the amount of cars .
My bike has paid itself more than twice last year.
Feels good to have a valid excuse to buy another bike every six months or so.
Keep it up and drive home safely.
Happy holidays to everyone .

it took me a while to master the strida .. quite twitchy..i used it to run errands around my neighbourhood.
I do travel by train (SMRT) in Singapore. Brompton will be much more easier to roll around with the free wheel and the fold is sleek compare to birdie. But if you are looking for speed performance, my advice go for birdy as the pick up speed is really fast ... i can cruised at 20 -30 km/h without hassle.

I was just given an old Raleigh 20 folding bike for my birthday. I had a Raleigh 20 when I was a kid, (not a folding one), and I think my friends were a little sick of hearing me go on about it so they went out and found me one. My first ride down the very large hill from my house into town on my brand-new-old-bike, the brakes broke. I survived. I had a rest, bought a new brake cable and continued on my ride. I think I'll now need to look into making some minor adjustments to it - and in the meantime it gets folded into the boot of the car and safely transported to the bottom of the hill. I love folding bikes.

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e307/alldz/breakaway%20bikes/breakaway2.jpg
I stole the wheels from an old BMX bike and basically stripped the paint and rattle-canned it flat black. It looks blotchy because I used a reflective clearcoat. I guess the camera flash didn't like that. My friend is going to help me strengthen the stem a bit since it is wobbly even when tight but it is lots of fun to bomb around on.

Wow; glad to see the arrival of this thread!
I am trying to learn more about the Strida and the CarryMe/CarryAll.
I have read about them, but really want to speak to someone who has one------
Also, anyone know of a shop that sells them in CA. or elsewhere.
I can't see buying one without seeing and riding it.
Hoping to hear from someone!
Thanks,
Meg
