My 2nd folding Bridgestone Travzone. So far I changed the handlebar and cables. I might changed the wheel set to a 22 x 1 3/8 since the 24 x 1 is hard to find here.

Mine is a Bike Friday Pocket Rocket:

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-DpwE06r-xHA/Tr5DycrtejI/AAAAAAAAzyU/tLiO9zVAXnI/s640/IMG_0962.JPG

I live in Tokyo and currently cycle about 100 km per week. I have a bike bag for taking the folded bike on trains for rides further away from Tokyo. Yesterday I went on my first club ride, with my Bike Friday the only folder along with 15 full size road bikes.

It's time to find my '02 Dahon Mariner 26" a new home. As the pic indicates, the bike is in EXCELLENT condition.

228758

My interests have shifted elsewhere... a vacation home overseas, a Cyfac road bike, etc. As this bike is in excellent condition, any suggestions on where to advertise so it finds a quality home? Also, what's a fair market value for this bike?

Thanks all! :)

Hi, I am a newbie here.

I have a new Breezer Zig 7 (re-badged Dahon Vitesse) which I am enjoying very much.

I just bought my Raleigh Twenty at a swap meet today. In my haste and excitement I forgot to take a pic, and I had to leave it at my friend's house as I rode my other bike to the swap meet. The thing was in basically perfect condition as far as a bike from the 60s? 70s? goes. I've been lurking all over the net for the perfect folder/minivelo and have been in particular looking for one of these. The best part? 100 bucks. :thumb:

Started off as the Monster Commuter with Big Apples - but those tires were just too big and I could not mount fenders with them. Going to try out the Duranos here...

Finally got my rack added and she is ready to go!

I bought a Citizen Gotham 2, but I returned it because it weighed nearly 30 lbs. (not the 25 lbs. they advertised), then I got a Downtube FS9 which I quickly sold because it was not very compact when folded. I now have a green Origami Cricket and a yellow Origaim Crane. They fit neatly in the trunk of my compact car and are great fun to ride.

It's ace, it folds to next to nothing, but it's great to ride. I added better bigger tyres and some crank bros pedals as the original folding ones are awful.

in 1994 in germany I purchased a new de blasi, it had 4 speed freewheel and plastic wheels.

I dont know its weight at the time.

I was living in 2 bags and the bike was the addition.

my first stop was Palma de Majorica, I straped the bags on the bike and rode into town from the airport. within a week the plastic spacer rings in the freewheel started to crush, a visit to a local bike shop and for a few shekels I now had a used 5 speed freewheel.
soon I was on a yacht and we stopped in Gibralter, I took the cable car up to the top and decided to ride down, I can confirm the brakes are asbestos as they were smoking coming down!
In the canaries it was nice to get away from the boat on 2 wheels
In Antigua it really was nice to go touring, along with many other islands,
Soon enough I was sailing back to Europe, first stop was bermuda and I went from end to end on that island, Next stop was Azores and again it was great to ride all day up to the top of the volcano and fly down.
I took a flight to Austria and cruised around,
eventually after 18 months I cam home and put the bike on a refit.
loose weight!
steel cranks out- sungino maxy cranks in
steel brake levers got swapped for all plastic units-weight and corrosion loss
I now went to a 7 speed freewheel, better climbing ratio and a better top speed,
regina crome chain
used campy derailleur to replace the steel ****e one.
I upgraded the functioning lights to a halogen front bulb and upgraded the wiring.
back on tour again started in New York-Bermuda and Antigua.
then st marteen, dominican republic, bermuda, azores, gib, barcalona, finland, france and back to the states.
after a few more tours The De Blasi was checkered with stickers from all over,
I use her occasionaly, mt friend takes her on his yearly sailing expedition but all in all I do not agree with the negative opinion the press has on it, the short wheelbase takes a bit to get used to
the drum brakes and plastic wheels are great-you cant hurt them when badly handled
total loss was over 2 pounds
yea it is a bit heavy but I want to see any folder as quick in and out of a commuter train or bus,
I could cycle up to the train and fold it in under 4 seconds including the pedals.
when the doors opened I would hit the ground running in about the same 4 seconds.

Mike: pics please! Would like to know how you can use a 7 cog freewheel on those wheels. Must be off center? Got similar in alloy, not quite true so brakes ri\ub a little. Start a new tread vith pix about this bike!

puchfinnland
04-01-12, 01:06 PM
It was not a walk in the park!

I purchased a longer axle, and there is many spacers in it but it works great.
I believe the lowest cog is a 12! Its got a regina in it now.

I will get some picks in the morning.

Im thinking of getting an extra plastic wheel and mounting it up on a lathe, take out the core and see if i can get a modified nexus 7 in there, get rid of all that derailleur nonsense.

have you done any upgrades? metal wheels must be heavy.

I also replaced the 8mm pivot bolt with a stainless one, the standard one wears out.

I have the old one sided folding pedals, its frustrating when you jump on in a hurry, the next generation ones were better.

never figured out how to put a better seat on it.

It rides great on pavement, grass and dirt roads but not so well on the trails covered in wood chips. The only thing I'll change out will be the seat of course for a comfier one. I wish they sold bikes sans seat and just let you pick which seat you want for a little extra instead of installing the standard, small, rock hard seats.

@ Jiten

Bought it for Php 35,000 or USD 815

Yes bought it here in Manila. The dealer here said that new deliveries that arrived from Taiwan are now rebadged as "Providence" bikes.

I don't know if that is a good thing for me.. anyways i think i made the right decision with the Flamingo. They can say that it's a "B" clone but

i bought it for the fold and that there is a dealer I can go to for parts/service.

I'm afraid that I can't give a review since I'm just beginning to appreciate biking again.

Btw, i only replaced the stock grips to Ergon GR2, other than that I can't think of any gripe with it after 200kms of total ride.

Thanks for asking

Jiten

Ferdinand, thanks for the useful info. Don't sweat the review. Just come back from time to time and tell us how you're enjoying the bike, preferably with pictures. :) If you have problems with the bike, it would be good to share that, too.

One more question, if you don't mind. Are there bike-friendly places in Manila where it is reasonably safe to ride a bike, with biking infrastructure (bike paths, bike lanes, etc.)? The auto traffic there is quite formidable.

P.S.: I just saw you posted pictures. Thanks! Yay! But, I think we need bigger pictures, haha. :)

I am a serious road rider that also travels a LOT for work. I wanted a bike I could take with me on longer trips to stay in shape for century rides and other group events. I chose the Pacific Reach because it seemed to offer the best of all worlds. I put over 3,000 miles on this puppy last year while working full time. I did 3 century rides, and one double century in 1 day (the Seattle to Portland classic). Here is a picture of my mount surrounded by the Cervelos I usually ride with. I also added a shot of the bike from a solo ride, a shot next to a small plane which is the best way to get to distant rides and a clean shot of just the bike with a white background. I also have a Giant TCR full frame carbon sport bike that sits in the basement most of the time. The Pacific Reach has a smoother and more compliant ride - besides, it is a heck of a lot of fun to confound the expectations of other bikers by showing up with this diminutive powerhouse of a bike!

I just picked up this Citizen "Miami" 20" 6-speed from Craigslist for $175. Came with the optional rear carrier and bike storage bag. Total price if I were to buy it from the factory would have been $270.

It also came with two Bell rear blinkies, a small Schwinn air pump and two absolutely worthless Bell mirrors (already removed those - they gave a nice reflection of my hands). I'll add a proper bar end mirror at some point.

Not exactly a steal of a deal, but not to bad either in my opinion. The bike is like new, and the bike carrier is still in the plastic bag.

I sell at a car dealership and I plan to use the bike to run between our New & Used dealerships (1/4 mile door to door) for when it's too hot for me to ride my Fuji hybrid from home to work (without arriving as a sweaty mess).

My 2 week old expressway!

Upgraded to a rear Avid BB7 Disc brake w/ Ashima Airotor + Shimano hub, Avid Speed Dial SL levers, WellGo QR pedals, Mortop Carbon Pro Handlebar and GUB Stem Extension.

Its got a Cateye Micro, Blackburn side mirror, NiteRider Mako Lights, AirZound installed.

This is my first bike in maybe 20 years! :) I am liking it so much. Handles and rides well without any creeks. A bit twitchy though but I'm getting the hang of it. The saddle's comfy but I'm looking at a honey Brooks B17 if I can get a good deal.

The brake upgrade significantly ups the folder's stopping power. Night and day difference compared to the stock V-brake. The BB7 is hot! Together with the Speed Dial Levers--who needs hydros? ;) Hope I can find a replacement fork with disc brake mounts.

My 2 week old expressway!

Mortop Carbon Pro Handlebar and GUB Stem Extension.

Could you plse give us a link to where you bought the stem extension? All my searches just end up on a E-bay start page.

I bought it from a local lbs and not online. These would probably help:
