Hi,

I recently came into a 2006 Madone frame fitted with the older Trek BB90 BB (it has external cups, not the simple 2 part design they have nowdays).

The bearings are set up for a Shimano crank. I would like to swap them out so I could use SRAM cranks. Could I use a conversion kit like this one.... http://www.fudgescyclestore.com/index.php?p=101431? These kits should fit the olders BBs right?

Also anyone got any experience swapping out the bearings on these BBs? They seem pretty well jammed in. Would this tool do the trick?... http://www.parktool.com/products/detail.asp?cat=25&item=BBT-90

Any advice help here would much appeciated. Thanks!

are you sure of what bb you have?? you saying external cups points to removal with the 16 notch external bb tool. bb90 is integrated and press fit in the frame. please clarify or post a picture

He doesn't have BB90. 2006 Madone had standard BB, which were stock Shimano outboard cups.

Yeah, sorry, I was getting confused.

The frame has standard external cups. I was (mistakenly) thinking all Madones used 'BB90' BBs and that therefore all cups were fixed to the frame.

So looks like a standard external BB and standard tools to remove.

Thanks & excuse my stupidity.
