OK- this is a cheapo Nashbar fixed/fixed hub, but it is a great wheel--- 28 H rim with an unmilled Mavic. The wheel had been sliding a bit in the drop out, so I really cranked down on it, and as a fixed/fixed wheel, I had a habit of flipping the wheel with my mood. Apparently it had enough....

I assume the axle is quite standard-- like any Novatex, Joyteck, or Formula hub--- but is it? I'd rather just replace the axle than replace the entire hub, but how easy is it to find the right one? There are no LBSes around here that carry anything related to FG. Thoughts? Ideas?

you can replace just the axle, just remove your axle and take it to any bike shop as long as it is not a sealed bearing axle any quality shop should stock basic loose ball axles. swap over the cones and spacers and your golden.

it does not matter if it is a bmx, fg, road, cruiser they all use 3/8" and similar sizes axles just the length will vary.

if it is a sealed bearing hub the just google fourmula replacement axles and you'll get several hits.

Ah no...most road and track hubs uses 10mm on the rear. Also, there are different thread pitch too.

Harris have the replacement axle for Formula hubs.
